Silica Gel Desiccant

• Introduction
The main component of silica gel is amorphous silicon dioxide, transparent or milky white irregular shape grain or ball type solid. By using sodium silicate react with vitriol, then adopts a series of post-processing of especial aging treatment and acid foam. The water molecule exhibits good affinity. The most favorable moisture absorbing environment for silica gel is room temperature 20~32%, high humidity 60~90%, and it can make relative humidity decreased by 40%. Silica gel is non-crystalline substance, with the features of porous structure, strong ability of absorption, the ability of adsorbing more substances, it is a kind of high-powered active adsorbent.

• Classify & Features
a. Macro-porous silica gel desiccant (A type silica gel): ball shape and block shape, colorless or light yellow translucence glassy grain
Feature: the adsorb ability is high when the relative humidity is low, point reaches -40℃~-70℃
B type silica gel: translucence ball shape or translucence irregular block shape grain
Feature: the adsorb ability is high when the relative humidity is high, optimum for controlling humidity
c. Macro-porous silica gel (C type silica gel): macro-porous ball shape silica gel is milky white glassy ball shape grain, macro-porous block shape silica gel is milky white glassy irregular grain
Feature: the adsorb ability is high when the relative humidity is high, optimum for high humidity dehydration
d. Tiny ball silica gel: white glassy transparent ball shape grain
Feature: used mainly for precision instrument and machinery dryness, the adsorb ability is high when the relative humidity is low, point can be reduced below -70℃ at ordinary temperature.
e. Blue gel indicator, discoloration silica gel and cobalt free discoloration silica gel: to indicate environmental relative humidity or judge the desiccant is effective or not by means of a color change. f.FNG silica gel: it does not crack or flake off when wet, used for air dryness in air separation unit and as a buffer desiccant in general silica gel protective layer
